After closing on February 25th, Apple’s Lynnwood, Washington store at Alderwood Mall will reopen this Saturday, November 17th at 10:00 A.M. The store will sport an all-new design and significantly increased interior space for a Forum and Video Wall. Apple Alderwood Mall will feature an architectural style similar to recently opened stores in Southlake, Texas and Whitehall, Pennsylvania, both of which began and finished construction before Lynnwood’s store. The closure at Alderwood Mall was relieved, in part, by the opening of the new Apple University Village in June....

It’s no secret that Apple CEO Tim Cook has been pushing and praising the company’s augmented reality (AR) efforts. With iOS 11 and ARKit, Apple made most of its iPhones and iPads capable of AR experiences. Now, a new report is sharing alleged details for a potential AR/VR headset. CNET is reporting that Apple may be taking this to the next level. In addition to AR, the company is said to be working on a virtual reality (VR) headset that combines both technologies for a singular immersive experience....

Instagram is reportedly planning to launch an app called “Threads” that would serve as a companion to the main Instagram application. The Verge reports today that Threads would “promote constant, intimate sharing between users and their closest friends.” In many ways, Threads is Instagram’s latest attempt at copying popular Snapchat features. The company was originally developing the standalone “Direct” app, but it abandoned plans for that earlier this year. Threads takes features of Direct and Snapchat, and integrates them with the “Close Friends” feature of Instagram itself....

If the leading love interests don’t have any chemistry together or a convincing connection, the movie is ultimately doomed. A pair of new reports from research firm TrendForce today offer additional details on Apple’s transition to Apple Silicon, as well as the iPad Pro and Mac transition to mini LED display technology. According to TrendForce, Apple is likely to introduce a 12.9-inch iPad Pro with mini LED in Q1 2021. The report explains that Apple’s transition to mini LED technology will start with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro during the first quarter of 2021....

The report says that Apple’s motivation to build out its own infrastructure came after a conversation with Microsoft. Microsoft won’t be able to handle Apple’s continued growth in the cloud, meaning that Apple would have to aid Microsoft in growing Azure. So in the long run, it makes much more sense for Apple to work on building out its own networks rather than supporting Microsoft’s. Apple has also been buying up land in China and Hong Kong to build out data centers, according to the report, although specific details are unclear....
