From the start screen of the app, a user can input either their current location or another location where they want to travel, check-in/check-out dates, a number of rooms and guests, and tap a single button to immediately search for matching hotels....

Not for the first time, a Star Wars movie has conflicted fans of the franchise. Some are happy with The Rise of Skywalker, believing it brings a satisfying end to a story that has spanned 40 years, over 10 movies and countless video games and other media. Others, however, believe the blockbuster suffers from a convoluted plot, poor decision-making and the unenviable task of having to please everybody. A user who appears related to famed Destiny 2 leaker AnonTheNine has made released some information regarding the game’s future, including Destiny 2 Year 3 plans. A user named ShadowOfAnonTheNine leaked the information on the Destiny subreddit yesterday, and the rumors have begun to pick up steam since then. Destiny 2 is currently in the midst of its Season of the Drifter, a content update that has been well-received and an early indication that the game could be heading into a bright future now that Activision and Bungie have parted ways....

Chainalysis data shows that about $2.2 billion was outright stolen from DeFi protocols in 2021. As of 2022, Chainalysis estimated that illicit addresses currently hold at least $10 billion worth of cryptocurrency, with most held by wallets implicated in cryptocurrency theft, darknet markets and scams. Digging deeper into the figures, Chainalysis researchers found that cybercriminals brought in 82% more in revenue from scamming last year, raking in $7.8 billion in cryptocurrency from victims....

As has been said many times in the past, ARKit is perhaps the clearest sign yet that Apple is going all-in when it comes to augmented reality. With the iPhone 8 set to come later this year, it makes sense that it too would feature advanced AR features. Now, Fast Company reports that the device will feature a rear-facing 3D sensor to aid with AR and other camera technology… The report explains that Apple’s 3D laser system sensor will allow for the iPhone 8 to offer better depth detection for augmented reality....

So-called phablets just about quadrupled their marketshare during Q1 of this year thanks largely due to Apple’s first product in the category, the iPhone 6 Plus. The data comes from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech and shows the phablet market grew to 21% in the first quarter this year, up from just 6% last year. The growth is mostly due to the iPhone 6 Plus, which grabbed 44% of the market during Q1....

Vince Zampella, head of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment, is taking on a new role leading DICE LA. Respawn and DICE LA are both owned by Electronic Arts, which purchased Respawn in 2017. Respawn itself was formed in 2014 by Zampella and fellow Infinity Ward executive Jason West. It’s not surprising that EA wants to expand Zampella’s role considering what a great year 2019 was for Respawn....

As you doubtless gathered from my recent Scrivener review, I’m a massive fan of the best Mac app I’ve ever used for creative writing. The TL;DR version is that I wouldn’t dream of attempting to write a novel in anything else. My only real grumble is that we’ve as yet seen no sign of the long-promised iPad version of the app. I’ve used PlainText with a Dropbox sync as a way of working on Scrivener projects on my iPad, and that works well enough at the writing stage....

Despite the fuel experts calling on the government to introduce a cap, Annastacia Palaszczuk, the Premier of Queensland, has denied any responsibility for the increasing petrol prices. The Northern Territory is the most expensive state for both diesel and petrol, and now motorists will have to pay 170 cents per litre for unleaded petrol in 80% of the service stations in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The third season also continues the show’s trajectory of becoming increasingly better and as equally wholesome as the previous seasons....

Is there no limit to the tolerance margin in Apple Stores? After comedian Mark Malkoff brought his pet goat into an Apple Store (go past the fold for a video of Malkoff’s stunt), another guy found out that Apple Stores will in fact service his knock-off MacBook Air. And no, we are not talking about counterfeit Apple Stores in China, although the store in question was located in China. Per this report from the Chinese forum Sina Weibo, relayed by MIC Gadget, a Chinese guy brought his laughable MacBook Air knock-off to Apple’s flagship store in the Shanghai’s Pudong district....

A new report published today by non-profit organization Green America and industry watchdog China Labor Watch accuses Apple of various violations of Chinese labor laws at one of its suppliers in the country (via NYTimes).
