Earlier today, more details regarding how the FBI was able to gain access to the iPhone 5c used by one of the San Bernardino gunmen emerged. Now, a new report from CBS News is offering some information as to the contents of the device, or lack thereof rather. The report says that, as of right now, the FBI has not found anything of “real significance” on the device. The report cites a law enforcement source and says that the Federal Bureau of Investigation will continue to analyze the contents of the iPhone 5c in question, but nothing of interest has been found yet....

We all have that family member, friend or work colleague who comes to us in times of distress asking for help – yup, they forgot their password and can’t login to their PC. And yes, it can happen to the experts too. For example, many years ago, I configured Windows to log in automatically since I was the only one using the computer. I started carrying my laptop to work and thought, I probably will need to re-enable the password, only to realize, I couldn’t remember it off the top of my head....

When Mountain Lion launched last year, Apple introduced some basic Facebook sharing options to OS X. You can post a status update from Notification Center or upload a photo from Finder, Preview, iPhoto, or other Mac applications. While those functions are useful, Apple has yet to really embrace all of Facebook’s features. For example, you can’t tag a friend in a status update or create a new photo album, and the notification integration, while nice, is a bit unreliable....

However, security researchers Talal Haj Bakry and Tommy Mysk have discovered that these link previews can expose user data in both iOS and Android apps. When you send any link through a messaging app like Messenger, WhatsApp, and even iMessage, the app generates a preview of that link which usually contains an image, title, and sometimes a short text....

Apple appears to be retiring the built-in Videos app on iOS in favor of the new TV app coming next month. The behavior is introduced with today’s iOS 10.2 beta 3; iOS 10.2 beta 2 included both apps separately. Apple could still change this behavior in a future version of iOS 10.2, although there isn’t much need for both apps for most users. The change should only be present for iOS 10....

Today’s “One more thing” Apple event will likely include details on the release date for macOS 11 Big Sur. Ahead of that, Rogue Amoeba has announced that all of its audio products are now compatible with Big Sur, though some issues might still persist. After introducing the mini-LED technology on the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro, Apple is now planning to adopt OLED displays for some other iPads starting next year, according to Korea’s ETNews. The publication says Apple “confirmed” OLED on the iPad as “the small and medium-sized OLED market is expected to enter the second growth phase.” Samsung and LG are the current OLED supplier for the iPhones using that technology, and the report believes some iPads will also feature an OLED display as well starting in 2022....
